Tick tock, tick tock...

This little one is certainly teaching us patience! While we've been waiting and ready for the past several weeks, he/she seems very content just to hang out a little while longer.

On Thursday, I will be 41 weeks, and the midwives would like us to be induced between 41-42 weeks, so if we don't go into labor between now and Friday, we've scheduled our induction for Friday evening at 8 p.m. (Happy Valentine's Day to us!). Pitocin would begin on Saturday morning, and we would get to meet our little one sometime Saturday or Sunday!

It's hard to believe that at this time next week, we'll have a third person in our house. We're in such a state of heightened anticipation, but we also realize this is a special time in our lives with just the two of us. So, part of me is eagerly looking forward to meeting Baby B, and the other part is trying to savor every minute with my husband, enjoying the quiet and the calm.

As so many of our friends have described this phase to us - it is full of every emotion - and often all at once! Excitement, anxiety, nostalgia, fear, peace, joy, worry. I've just been trying to take each day as it comes, knowing that God's timing for this little child is perfect.

"Look to the Lord and His strength; seek his face always." Psalm 105:4

"But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, for He has been good to me." Psalm 13: 5-6

In the meantime, thought you'd enjoy seeing some pictures of our gender neutral gray/red/antique brass nursery!

The hat and booties in the frame above the crib are from 1919 - they were my Oma's (my mother's mother) when she was a baby! And the crib was from my family - each of my sisters used it when they were babies. So fun to have such special pieces in the nursery.

Thanks to our friend Laura for adding the fun ribbon and some black-out fabric to our Target curtains to help keep the room dark and cozy when baby snoozes (Do they ever snooze???). I can't wait to snuggle up in that rocking chair - it's the same rocking chair my mom snuggled me in!

A little reading nook and some fun photos above the changing table/dresser

The family that guacs together, stays together

We made Brian's "super secret amazing special recipe if-we-told-you-we'd-have-to-kill-you" guacamole on Sunday for the Super Bowl, and while we were making it, I realized that the night we found out we were pregnant (May 31, 2013), we were also making guacamole together!

Maybe it's the hormones, but as we're now 40 weeks and waiting for this little one to arrive, it felt weirdly special to me. Ok, it's probably the hormones. But the guac was still delicious!

Cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon...

We may have some issues with our "fur baby" adjusting to the pending arrival of the real baby.

Look where we found Schnitzel last night:

Hmmm...
