What Else Do You Do on the Summer Solstice Besides Margs at the Boat Basin Cafe?

Picture time! My friend/former roommate/fashionista, Heather, and I took a quick pic outside the 79th Street Boat Basin Cafe. A "secret" little restaurant hiding underneath the West Side Highway! (I like to pretend no one else knows about it. But then I remember that everyone else knows about it once I get there - it always takes a least an hour to get a table!)

The Cloisters

My first stop before reaching the top of the hill and the Cloisters - ice cream! After taste-testing the Mister Softee vanilla, I decided my favorite fro-yo flavors for a New York City summer are: Pinkberry (Pinkberry flavor with chocolate chips), Tasti-D (peanut butter), and Mister Softee (vanilla). Still, on a hot day, it was cold - and good.





The Cloisters are located at the very top of Manhattan, in Fort Tryon Park. I can't believe it's taken me 5 years to make the trip! It was incredibly beautiful. The museum is a branch of the Metropolitan Museum, and it is devoted to art and architecture from medieval Europe.
