What child of the '80's doesn't remember that scene from "
Big" when a young Tom Hanks puts the coin in the "
Zoltan Speaks" future-telling machine at
Coney Island and wishes that he was "big?"
Well, it's a great scene. At a great place. In a great city.
Today's "List Adventure" took me and my friend, Heather, on an hour and a half ride on the 2-to-the-Q train to the Coney Island/Stillwell Avenue stop.

A day at Coney Island doesn't start until you've eaten a
Nathan's hot dog. Home of the world-famous
hot dog eating championship. Best. Hot dog. Ever.

At one point, the announcer said, "Just shoot the freakin' freak, dude." Weird.

A Coney Island classic.

A compromise between the red and blue cars that swing around wildly on the ferris wheel and the white cars that stayed still. Rides are always better with friends screaming in your ears!

I loved it.

And Heather....screamed the entire time!

My ride on the Astroland Cyclone got delayed by a 30-minute thunderstorm. We huddled under the Cyclone ticket counter awning to wait it out.

What better way to wait out the rain than by winning a few pieces of cheap plastic jewelry and playing arcade games?

By the end of the day, between the two of us, we had two Diet Cokes, two regular hot dogs with mustard and ketchup, one chili dog, two bags of cotton candy (saving one for tomorrow!), one mint chocolate chip ice cream cone, and french fries. Now THAT's a good day.

Brooklyn Cyclones v.
Aberdeen Ironbirds (what's an ironbird?) at Keyspan Park. P.S. - It was also Super Hero Night, so every kid who dressed in a costume got to run onto the field before the game. See how many Batmans you can find!

Finally. The Cyclone at night. What an awesome ride.

Wait. Am I tall enough for this ride? It's embarrassing, but I actually said those words. Fortunately, I just made the cut-off.

Gives you a sense for what the ride's like, doesn't it?

2 more things to cross off "The List!"
